About the event

Let's kick off 2024 on the right foot - covered in a hand-knit sock, of course! Learn to make Toe-Up Socks starting with "Judy's Magic Cast On."  We'll be using DK-weight yarn, so these socks will work up quick and cozy! This class is great for anyone who has made socks before and is looking to try a new method!

Class Sessions: January 13, 20, & 27 at 10AM each session. Make-ups will not be provided, so mark your calendars!

Class fee: $40

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - Intermediate. This is *not* a "how-to" knit class. Students should comfortable with knitting and purling and switching between both (eg, ribbing).  Students should also be familiar with how to knit in the round, using their preferred method.

Students will need the following materials:

  • But First, Socks by A Fiber Collective. PDF available for purchase here.
  • 150-250 yards of DK weight yarn (The pattern uses Prairie Spun DK, which we have in stock! Another great option is Stratosphere)
  • US 3 (3.25 mm) needles in your preferred needle style: DPNs, Long circulars for Magic Loop (should be 32" or longer), or 9" circular
  • Stitch markers
  • (Recommended) - If you took a "How to Knit" class, bring your How to Knit book for reference!
  • Receive 10% off class materials (excluding pattern) if you purchase your materials at Walther Handmade!

Please make plans to purchase/prepare your materials before the first class. Just come by Walther Handmade during our regular hours, and we will be happy to help you pick out materials. We have a lot to cover each class session and will not have time to wind yarn/prep materials the day of.

Students will have "homework" each week and are responsible for keeping up with class pace. "Catch-Up" sessions will not be provided; however, students can come to the shop during our regular hours between sessions if they have questions.

Age Requirement: Classes are intended for students 16+ years.

Cancellation: If you sign up for the class and are not able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible by sending an email to Hello@Waltherhandmade.com . This gives us time to notify other interested participants on the "waitlist."

Refund Policy: If you cancel 48 hours or more prior to the start of class, you are eligible to receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the start of class, you are not eligible for a full refund and forfeit all class materials/fees (if applicable). Class fees cannot be transferred to a different class, event, or product.
