Crochet Clinic: Yes! You can crochet socks!

Celebrate Socktober at Walther Handmade with this Crochet Sock Class! Join us Saturdays in October as we work our way through the Segue Sock designed by Deanne Ramsay. While many think that socks are just for knitters, these beautiful designs by Deanne Ramsay show that crocheters can have sock fun too!

Each Saturday of the class, we'll tackle a different part of the sock starting with the toe, shaping the heel, and finishing with the cuff. Along the way, we'll learn how to work in the round, practice increases and decreases, and get really friendly with post stitches. By the end, you'll know how to crochet warm and cozy socks for the whole family!

Dates: October 14, 21, & Nov. 4, 11

Times: 10 AM each day

Skill Level: Intermediate

Students should be comfortable with: making a slip knot, chaining, single crochet, and double crochet . 

This is not a "Learn to Crochet" class. If you have already been crocheting for a bit, know some basic stitches, and are ready to dive into something new, then this is the class for you!

Registration: This class is limited to 4 participants. Registration is required!

Instructor: Jillian Walther

You will learn:

• How to read and follow a written crochet pattern
• How to crochet with sock yarn
• Post stitches: Back Post Double Crochet, Front Post Double Crochet, and Front Post Half Double Crochet
• How to work in a round, to manipulate stitches into a sock form!

Class Materials are NOT included. 

You will need to gather the following materials:

• Pattern:
• Segue Socks Pattern by Addydae Designs
• We have a limited amount of printed patterns in the store, available for purchase here or in store while supplies last
• Pattern is also available via Ravelry
• Crochet Hook: 
• Size E / 3.5 mm crochet hook - available at our online shop or in store!
• Fingering Weight Sock Yarn: 
• At least 400 yards / 100g for Main Color (larger sizes may require more yardage)
• 80 ~ 200 yards / 20 ~ 50 g for Contrast Color
• We will not be able to wind yarn the same day as class. Please make plans to purchase and wind yarn before the class starts.
• Yarn/Tapestry Needle
• Tape Measure
• Stitch Marker

Age Requirement: 13+ years. Participants younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult, who has also registered for the class.

Cancellation & Refund: Participants will only receive a full refund if they give at least a 48 hour (2 day) cancellation notice. This gives us time to notify other interested students on the "waitlist." 

Class fee cannot be transferred to a future class or other product. 

Please make plans to attend every session. Make-up sessions are not guaranteed. Class fee will not be refunded if participants are only able to attend partial sessions.

Classes are subject to cancellation due to low registration or other unforeseen (ie "Act of God") circumstances. In these instances, registrants will be notified and fully refunded.
