About the event

June's Stitchin' on Trenton night just happens to be on the eve of World Wide Knit in Public Day! We're going to start celebrating early by offering a *FREE* knitting class! Learn to make a classic, cotton dishcloth - just like your grandma and mama made! This class is great for beginning knitters!

What we'll learn/practice:

  • How to increase through a yarn over
  • How to decrease (knit 2 together)
  • How to understand and follow a pattern

Supplies are NOT included.

You will need to bring:

  • 1 set of knitting needles, US 7, 8, or 9 (depending on yarn) - straight or circular
  • 50 grams of Worsted or DK weight cotton (~ 100 yards) (Karma Cotton or Old Dominion would work great!)
  • The pattern! "Traditional Dishcloth" by Staci Perry. Download it on Ravelry or Very Pink for free.
  • We will not be distributing copies of the pattern - please download, print, and bring your own copy.

Required Skills:

This is not a "learn to knit" class. Participants should know the following:

  • How to Cast On (long tail method)
  • How to Knit (garter stitch)
  • How to Bind off
