About the event
Let's start the New Year with some sweets, stitching, and helping others! Join us for a Stitch-A-Thon on January 6 to benefit Warm Up America's "Stitched with Sweets" campaign. We'll have the sweets - you bring the stitches. We'll be making scarves to be donated to women's shelters in the U.S. We will continue collecting scarves until February 10 and then mail them to Warm Up America. Whether you are a beginning or experienced knitter or crocheter, you are invited to spend the day stitching with us to kick-off this special campaign. Feel free to bring a snack or your lunch, to keep your energy going!
Renowned crochet food artist, Twinkie Chan, designed the scarf patterns and instructions inspired by Hallmark Channel’s "Countdown to Christmas" theme and color palette. These are available for *free* - make sure to download and print your pattern before the Stitch-A-Thon! We have some yarn that was previously donated for charity stitching that will be available for use. You just need to bring your hooks or needles, and pattern! Keep reading for more details!
1) Download/save/print the pattern(s)
2) Gather materials
Crochet Hook: H/8 (5.0 mm)
Knitting Needles: US #7 or #8
Worsted Weight Yarn will be available as long as supplies last. Â
Do I have to stay the whole day?
No, but you are welcome to! The shop will be open 10AM - 3PM. This is a come-and-go event - come when you can, leave when you must!
What if I don't finish the whole scarf in a day?
We are going to be collecting scarves until February 10. Join us for the Stitck-A-Thon to get started, keep working on your scarf at home, and then drop it off by February 10.Â
I'm a beginner knitter/crocheter. Can I still participate?
Yes! There are simple stitch patterns in both the Crochet and Knitting Patterns that are beginner-friendly.Â
