Third Thursday: Let's Make Granny Squares!

June 20 kicks of Third Thursdays in Downtown Harriman. This month's theme is: Throwback Thursday! What's more Throwback than a Granny Square?

Granny Squares are a classic crochet pattern that every crocheter should know. Combining beauty and function, Granny Squares invite you to explore color and texture, while also practicing your crochet skills. Once you know the basics, you'll have the skills to make all sorts of projects - from apparel to home decor!

In this afternoon workshop, we'll learn the traditional granny square. There are infinite variations out there, but for this workshop, we are going to focus on the basic, traditional Granny Square. 

Required Skills: You need to know how to make a slip knot, chain, single crochet, and double crochet. 

This is not a "how to crochet" class. Please only sign up if you already know the above basics of crocheting.

If you have previously taken "Crochet 101" at Walther Handmade, this is a great next step!

What's Included: We'll provide you with in-person instruction and written instructions to take home.

You'll need to bring: Practice yarn and a crochet hook to match. General guidelines are: DK weight & Size G or H crochet hook, Worsted Weight and Size H or I crochet hook, Bulky Weight and Size I or J crochet look. It is recommend to use yarn that is smooth (not fuzzy or super textured), to make it easier to see your stitches!

Grow your skills: This class does not include a book or take-home yarn. You will have time to browse after the workshop, and we will be happy to help you find a book, pattern, and yarn for your first granny-square project! 

Date & Time: Thursday, June 20, 4:30 PM. We estimate this class will take about 1.5 - 2 hours. You'll have plenty of time afterwards to celebrate Throwback Thursday with the rest of Downtown Harriman! Please arrive a few minutes early, so that we can get started on time. We do not offer make-ups, if you arrive late.

Cancellation / Refund: If you register for the class and then find out you can't make it, you must notify Walther Handmade at least 48 hours in advance. This gives us time to notify other interested learners that a spot has opened up. If you notify us at least 48 hours in advance, then you'll receive a full refund. If you notify us 48 hours or less before the class - or do not show up to the class -  you will not receive a full refund and forfeit any included class materials.
