With Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to share 2 different easy-peasy Christmas tree patterns that everyone can enjoy. Using only single crochet and a few simple techniques, these patterns are great for crocheters at any level!
You can use these ornaments to add a homemade flair to your tree, add them to a card or gift tag, or string them together to make a holiday garland!
I created 2 different versions: a Traditional Christmas Tree and an Updated Version. The Traditional Tree has straight rows, while the Updated Tree has a slight chevron shape to it.
Below you'll find the materials, tools, and stitches used for each tree!
Materials
#4 Medium Yarn, such as Worsted Weight
Need 2 colors: 1 color for tree and 1 color for trunk
Tools
Size H8 / 5.0 mm crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Pattern Notes
This pattern is highly customizable - trying using thicker or thinner yarn and different hook sizes to adjust the Christmas tree size and texture.
Each ornament has a basic pattern that is repeated each row. The basic row pattern can be continued to increase ornament size. Likewise, rows can be left off, once desired size is reached.
"Chain 1 and turn" at the end of each row does not count as a stitch
Stitches & Abbreviations
Stitch | Abbreviation | Description |

Grab your hook and yarn and let's start crocheting!
Traditional Crochet Christmas Tree
The first Christmas Tree pattern is a classic Christmas Tree shape that will match any decor! The triangle shape is formed by working an increase in the first stitch of every row. By turning each row, the increases occur on different sides each time, creating a balanced triangle. At the end, a different color of yarn is joined to form the trunk!

Finishing
Tie the beginning tail into an ornament loop (optional). Fasten off and weave in all ends. Add a yarn loop at the top with a piece of yarn and yarn needle. Feel free to add embellishments to decorate your tree or leave plain for a minimal look!
Updated Crochet Christmas Tree
The second Christmas Tree pattern has a slight chevron shape to it, giving it a more modern look. It starts out similar to the Traditional Tree, but a "single crochet cluster" is added in the middle, creating the chevron.
A "single crochet cluster" is similar to an increase, but 3 single crochets are worked in the stitch, instead of 2. This is a good example of how a few simple tweaks can have a big impact on shape and texture
