On the surface, Handpun Hope makes yarn. Luxury, organic, fair-trade certified, Merino wool yarn.
However, their vision goes beyond just "making yarn."
The Handspun Hope initiative envisions entire communities freed from poverty.
We pursue this by reaching out to the most vulnerable people in Rwanda and creating environments where they are empowered to live out their full potential at work, home and in their spiritual lives. What has resulted is phenomenal. Lives are changed forever, our team continues to grow and we have developed amazing partners who continually spur us on toward our vision.
For Giving Season 2022, Handspun Hope is striving to secure the employment of 209 women and expand their operations in Rwanda.
They are calling this effort "Sustaining Hope."
As a yarn store and maker, it seems like a natural fit to me to support an organization that uses creativity, fiber, and the yarn-making process as a way to provide meaningful employment and lift vulnerable populations out of poverty.
That's why we're calling every Tuesday - today through the end of the year - a Giving Tuesday. We will donate 10% of that Tuesday's net sales (online and in store) to Handspun Hope, to support and encourage their work in Rwanda and the vision God has given them for their future work.
